Clinical EMDR Consultation

For licensed therapists who have received EMDR basic training and the associated 10 required consultation hours. You might be seeking additional consultation hours toward EMDR certification or simply wanting to improve your clinical skills and confidence.

EMDR therapist Sarah Hagen

That you deserve the same quality care and support that you pour into your clients, and good consultation provides that.

I believe…

I’m sarah.

My approach

I received my EMDR basic training in 2020 and began utilizing EMDR immediately in my practice. After seeing its success for a few years, I decided to commit to certification, knowing that the additional consultation and training would only strengthen the work and passion that I had developed for EMDR. I became certified in 2024, and in 2025 I began the process to become a consultant-in-training. I have learned so much and have deeply valued the experience of my own consultation journey, that the next natural step was to become a consultant so that I could pay it forward.

My consultation model focuses on:

  • Continuing education about EMDR and its adaptations (we are constantly learning as clinicians and our field is constantly evolving)

  • Collaboration - helping you problem solve and think critically about your cases so that you learn to trust your instincts

  • Helping you build your clinical skills and confidence

Things we’ll work on

8 Phases of EMDR

Get confident in each phase of the EMDR protocol so you can move through a full course of EMDR therapy with clarity and clinical precision.

IFS Integration

Explore how to integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS) with EMDR to work with (not against) protective parts that inevitably show up, unblock stuck processing, and create a more relational, client-centered trauma treatment experience.

Case Conceptualization and Treatment Planning

Learn how to build a comprehensive EMDR treatment plan for complex clients, including those in the perinatal and postpartum period, so you're never guessing where to start or what to target next.

Stuck Points and Complex Cases

Get practical support for the hardest clinical moments - stuck SUDs, incomplete EMDR sessions, dissociation, and complex trauma presentations - including specialized guidance for perinatal mental health clients.

Resourcing and Stabilization

Develop a robust resourcing and stabilization toolkit for your most vulnerable clients, including those in the perinatal period, highly activated clients, and those with complex PTSD, so every client is truly ready to process.

EMDR Intensives

Learn how to design, structure, and clinically execute EMDR intensives and extended sessions, including how to adapt the eight phases for these longer session formats and how to make the case for intensive trauma treatment with your clients.

Frequently asked questions

  • I have a special clinical interest in perinatal mental health, EMDR intensives, and integrating Internal Family Systems (IFS) with EMDR. Therapists who work with pregnant and postpartum clients (or those struggling with infertility, losses, or birth trauma), or who want to offer intensive EMDR treatment, will find this consultation particularly relevant to their practice.

  • This consultation experience is designed for licensed therapists who have completed an EMDRIA-approved basic training and are ready to deepen their clinical skills, work toward EMDR certification, or get real support for the complex cases on their caseload, including perinatal clients and complex trauma presentations.

  • No. While this consultation counts toward the 20 hours of consultation required for EMDRIA certification, you don't have to be pursuing certification to participate. Many therapists seek consultation simply to become more confident and effective in their EMDR practice.

  • EMDR basic training gives you the protocol. Consultation gives you the clinical judgment to actually use it. We focus on the real-world complexity that training doesn't cover, like stuck processing, incomplete sessions, perinatal clients, intensive delivery, and integrating approaches like IFS, so you can practice with confidence instead of just following a checklist.

  • EMDRIA certification is a credential that demonstrates advanced competency in EMDR therapy. To become certified, therapists must complete a minimum of 50 EMDR sessions with clients and 20 hours of consultation with an EMDRIA-approved consultant (15 of the 20 hours may be with an EMDRIA-approved Consultant-in-Training.

  • I currently have two offers: A six-session 90 minute group consultation cohort which meets monthly for $300, paid upfront. For members of this group, individual consultation hours are available as an add-on: two hours for an additional $100, or four hours for an additional $150. All consultation hours are applicable toward EMDRIA certification requirements. If you are not in this group cohort, you can purchase separate individual consultation hours at the rate of $75/hour.

  • To reserve your spot in the group or learn more, email me directly at sarahhagen@sarahhagenlcsw.com or complete the contact form below. The group cohort is limited to five participants, so spots fill quickly.
